ADAPTIG Transforms TIG Welding into a Seamless Extension of Your Hand
For experienced professional welders like Rodolfo Gardin, the right equipment can make all the difference. With over 20 years of experience, he shares his insights with us on the ADAPTIG torch, a tool that he describes as feeling “like an extension of my hand.”
Ergonomic design and adjustable supports
"The ADAPTIG torch feels like an extension of my hand", Rodolfo Gardin, a welding professional with over 20 years of experience in both MIG and TIG processes, told us.
As a welding instructor and owner of Officine Gardin, specialising in the fabrication and repair of new metal components, Gardin values a TIG torch that inspires confidence and is easy to use in various welding positions. He says that our ADAPTIG torch not only meets these criteria but also excels with its innovative adjustable supports.
"These finger supports offer a stable grip and flexibility, without sacrificing control. The main advantage of the adjustable supports is their adaptability to different welding techniques. This eliminates the need to wrap the torch around your arm for certain operations. Additionally, they provide stability and rigidity, enhancing control, especially when working with the flexible torch head,” he explains.
Each of our ADAPTIG kits includes ergonomic finger supports, which provide greater comfort for welders in demanding positions. Monica Piovan, Trafimet's R&D Manager, explains that these supports are mounted on a rail on the lower part of the handle, allowing them to be easily slid or removed.
By adjusting the position of these supports, welders can find the most comfortable hand position for precise welding operations. This makes our torch more flexible, lighter, and more comfortable to use.
Enhanced Control and Comfort
One of our design challenges for the ADAPTIG torch was perfecting its ergonomics. We created a handle that is not tubular like many other products but shaped to allow better torch orientation. We also designed 3D buttons so welders can feel the button position without looking, allowing them to press it in any position, not just centrally.
The effort paid off, with Gardin praising the easily accessible button as a significant advantage. “It's comparable to a MIG torch button, sensitive yet not bulky, reducing the chance of accidental activations. Unlike smaller buttons on other torches, its shape and position make it easy to operate with gloves, providing a more intuitive and comfortable experience, similar to using a pedal.”
The torch's unique selling point is universal compatibility. It is designed to work seamlessly with all generators in the market. It currently accommodates around 100 machine brands, each with multiple connector variations. This means over 400 distinct machine connector options, providing integration with a wide range of welding equipment.
Corrado Di Giovanni, Trafimet’s R&D Technology Manager, elaborates, “We provide 26 different types of torch bodies, both air and water-cooled, and eight types of buttons based on application or specific machine requirements. We created a simple and useful configurator that allows welders to create a personalised torch.”

While the number of possible applications is vast, we offer an online configurator tool on our website that simplifies the torch selection process for users. Eetu Kivioja, Commercial Product Manager, Torches at Kemppi Oy and Trafimet, is keen to underscore that it is an example of ADAPTIG’s exceptional service model.
We are also proud of the hose package flexibility, ball joint movement, and ergonomic handle grip, which is notably narrow and optimised for comfortable handling, especially when held like a pen.
When we asked whether the ADAPTIG torch enhances welding performance, Gardin gave an emphatic yes. He added that its “articulated ball joints and lightweight design allow access to welding seams that are difficult to reach with other torches. It significantly improves my work by reducing hand strain, which is crucial in the TIG process. Overall, it makes welding more natural and less fatiguing.”
